Birmingham Open Studios

Graham Langley is an experimental printmaker and mixed media artist. He prints flowing landscapes, prehistoric sites, folk-tale motifs and imagined worlds. He often works on a series of pictures at once, searching for narrative.
Graham began his art exploration before Covid after being a performer for most of his life. His exploration started with printmaking on the basis that he could make a potato print so what else? Making plates, moving plates, pouring ink, etc has produced some striking results,
He continues to print but he now works with paint, ink and a range of other materials exploring the capacity of the materials he works with and the inspiration they give him. He paints “in the round” on casks and drums and explores a range of 3D constructions in his garden – make sure you visit his front garden.
He loves markets where he can meet and talk to people about his art and processes. He now runs a monthly art Market at the Kings Heath Community Centre just round the corner from where he lives. He also works with United Artists of South Birmingham to produce other art events locally.
During Open Studios he will be inviting visitors to take part in collaborative art creating several pieces over the two weekends.
